The ANAMESA Festival (“Between Us” in Greek) is much more than a cultural event: it is a human, artistic, and civic journey that places connection at the heart of its purpose. Led by DK-BEL, through art and inclusive dance, it invites us to look beyond visible differences and see others differently.

Founded by choreographer Sophie Bulbulyan, DK-BEL has gained international recognition. Its inclusive dance works have been presented across Europe, Africa, and North America, and in association with the Paralympic Games. The company champions a vision of art in which artistic excellence and humanity go hand in hand.

Created in Athens in 2013, ANAMESA was built around the strong concept of inclusive artistic journeys through the city, bringing together artists, young people, residents, and people with disabilities. The festival later expanded to Budapest, Paris, and Lisbon, confirming its European and itinerant character.

ANAMESA aims to create connections beyond borders: geographical links between countries, artistic links between disciplines, human links between participants with and without disabilities, and social links between people of different ages and backgrounds. The project is rooted in a core belief: art is a universal language capable of transforming perceptions and changing mindsets.

Through workshops, shared creative work, exchanges, and performances in public spaces, ANAMESA turns the city into an open stage where everyone becomes an active participant in a collective experience. Dance plays a central role by helping break down barriers linked to disability, social background, and life experience.

The festival’s message is simple and essential: to learn to look at others without fear and to recognise diversity as a source of shared strength.
